Another week

This weekend was better, in the sense that it was beautiful and warm and in no vehicles were damaged. We had a memorial/benefit group ride Sunday, that initially was going to be just HG on my bike with the boys. Then all the boy's wives were going, so I felt like I was missing out, but given that we hadn't ridden double on my bike for anything more than just going up the road, wasn't going to go. I did end up going, and we quickly realized we had both been right, my bike was not meant for doubles, as it was. HG's legs are significantly longer than mine, so his legs were a bit cramped up from the placement of my pegs. The back seat? Yeah, not comfortable and by the end of the ride felt more like a hard metal seat with no cushion, and the angle of my legs because of the passenger foot pegs also left one of my knees swollen and sore to hold weight when standing. Nothing like taking a ride to feel old. However, it was great to ride for a good cause, and to ride with friends as well. It's likely the last ride we'll all do together since HG and I will not share my bike again, his is not likely to be out of the shop in time to ride, and I'm not likely to ride with HG's friends without him. It would be a little insensitive, don't you think? Like added salt in the wound. Although I have to say the guys gave him so much crap about his accident that at this point I doubt HG would feel me rubbing any more salt in.

The only downfall of the group ride is having to register, than wait. It left everyone being social, which I like, as long as I know you, or silly small talk is not required. I'm not really a big fan of strangers, or small talk, and especially not the combination. Unfortunately I seem to draw these people out of the woodwork.

Rollins Ride

I rode home, while HG drove his car home, we decided we'd be happier that way. We were. HG did shoot some pictures from his car though, which, it's always interesting to have someone pull up to you on the interstate with a camera out the window.

This week is likely to be another sucky week as I'm on the road again for a few days for work. Which means that once again while the weather is fore casted to be lovely, I'll be stuck in the dungeon of one of our corporate offices. Yuck.

Knitting wise, I casted on for a Fidget-a-long with the local knit group, and completed it but need buttons. I am on the search for buttons. I may do another as it literally took all of a few hours, and this time in a more luxurious yarn since it's only a single skein. My lace scarf? Ah, only a few lines knitted lately, but I'm on the second half so at least I've made it that far. While I like how the lace looks, and am certain I'll like it even more after it's blocked, it feels like it's taking me forever. And ever. Maybe Fidgets will be my new addiction.

Great, and then not so great.

The great?
The Collective Soul, Live & Blues Traveller concert I went to a couple weekends ago. Seriously, it was a blast. The show was awesome (except for being told we couldn't stand up in front of our seats. It's a concert!) I had a blast with J, who the next morning left me a voicemail that proved she had as much fun as I- when she could barely talk. I've only been to two concerts so far this summer, and this was by far the better show. I wish HG had been able to go, as I think he would have also had a good time, but alas we had conflicting schedules.

The not so great?
Watching HG crash his motorcycle this weekend. Yup, that sucked big time. He's fine, not cuts, broken bones, nothing but a few bruises and some general soreness. His bike, um, not so fine. We are still waiting for the estimate to come thru, but it's not looking too promising. I was riding my bike, but a few feet further behind him so I had front row seats to the show, and well, I could have done without. What's worst is that it may mean HG or I miss the group benefit ride we were both registered to ride in this coming weekend. He's definitely bummed about that as well. While he can ride my bike, I'm not so sure I want to ride on the back seat of it for 2-4 hours, as it's itty bitty,me never intending for a passenger to ride on it. HG looks forward to the group rides and getting together with everyone, especially since we do it with increased rarity these days as people get busy with other facets of their lives like spouses, children and work.

A great start to the weekend!

My cool SP12 pal sent me another package! Pictures later, but everything is great! Thank you Pooch! In the package was a modular knitting book (b/c I wanted to learn modular), a cute notebook (because I'm always writing notes) a couple cute tidbits, but my favorite? The yarn! I'm not sure if Pooch spun, or dyed it as there were no tags, but it is unbelievably soft and perfect coloring of pink-ish purple, lilac purple and a gray-ish purple that I am in love with. I can't wait to find the perfect pattern for it.
Pooch, if you're reading this- thank you sooo much, you've been a great partner and it's been wonderful getting to know you. Also, your boxers? I so would babysit them if you come my way for the fall foliage. They are adorable!

falling behind & catching up

I've been a bit lax on posting the SP12 questions for a variety of reasons, one of which is that I've been blog-lazy. Here we go:

Week #9
Have you ever entered your knitting (or anything else) in the fair? Would you ever consider it?
Nope, never entered in craft or art related items to a fair or exhibition of any sort. I probably wouldn't, it's just not my personality and I always figure there is something better by someone else anyway. I'm a notoriously bad sport, if I can't win I don't play!!

Week #10
What Olympic event would best describe your knitting/knitting style?
Really? Couldn't tell you, can't think of any good comparisons. This year I have watched almost none of the Olympics. My interest just isn't there, and I feel like we could have picked a more deserving country to host.

Knitting- I am knitting although not much and very slowly. I've been busy at work with a new system
